We are 110 professional and clinical homecare workers with the University of Rochester Medicine Homecare. We have been fighting for our first union contract with the largest private sector employer in Upstate since May.
We provide critical homecare services in 7 counties of Upstate New York including: Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates. We are Registered Nurses, Child Life Specialists, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants, Dietitians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Medical Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Pediatric Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, and Speech Language Pathologists to keep patients in their homes.
Without reasonable caseloads, affordable health insurance, and competitive wages to recruit and retain more caregivers turnover is high.
We are demanding that University of Rochester leaders make negotiations a priority now. U of R must bring leaders to the table who are ready to settle a fair contract for professional home care workers that includes:
- Reasonable patient caseloads
- Health & Safety Protections on the job
- Affordable Quality Health Insurance
- Competitive Wage & Benefit Package To Help Recruit
